In the centre of the village of Patrimonio, there is a nineteenth century building made of dark stone that embodies a long tradition, and then a large field surrounded by dry stone walls: the Clos de Bernardi.

Forty years of experience, three generations of winemakers whose aim has always been to recognise the particularities of Patrimonio’s soils.... Today, Jean-Laurent Bernardi, elegant and relaxed at sixty, maintains the family tradition. In love with his land, he is the third to bear the name, President of the Patrimonio AOP, and humbly but confidently delivers high quality wine produced with the fullest respect for traditional methods.

Because tradition is at the heart of his life, not out of nostalgia for a bygone era, but in order to ensure that natural, organic processes, respectful of the environment, prevail, along with expertise in the art. Very active in the life of the village, he leads a permanent campaign to ensure all winemakers under the appellation recognise the importance of organic production. This approach is now bearing results - half of the producers are now organic.
