Looking after the land.
You have to go to the very top, at the end of the road in order to take in the whole 89 acres of land managed by a single person, as well as the hillsides and valleys that make up the Coste Caserone estate and extend all the way to the foot of the mountains, facing the sea.
This land is steeped in history and in 2010 it won over Brigitte Bertrand, a wine grower’s grand-daughter, who was looking to live the dream of becoming a wine producer. It’s a family passion, and a considerable achievement. She has skilfully taken up vine growing, and, through her commitment to responsible agriculture, has managed to to strike a balance between successful vine growing and respect for the natural environment.
Carefully selecting different varieties of grapes, including traditional ones such as Sciaccarellu and Niellucciu, as well as Chardonnay, Chenin, and even Muscat of Alexandria, has given her white, red and rosé wines a strong identity, and an established reputation. Special attention is given to an exceptional wine, the Suleone, which is best served with desserts or as an aperitif with crushed ice. As part of the production process, the wine is transferred into “gouttes d’or”, demijohn bottles which stand in the sun, in the middle of the scrub.
An impressive result for a lady who isn’t afraid of anything!
