This is the story of a young boy who started out in life in the tiny village of Lozzi at the foot of Monte Cintu, the source of his fondest memories. A subsequent move to Marseille proved to be heart-breaking for the young Jean Acquaviva: “I was wrenched from my village, my friends and my mountain”, he reminisces. “Even if, afterwards, I enjoyed some wonderful  years in Marseille, deep down I always felt that one day I would return to the village”, he continues.

And then one day, that yearning became too much! The young dentist decided to act on instinct and returned to settle in Lozzi. “I opened a new surgery in Ponte-Leccia, but my burning desire was to breathe life back into the village.” Having watched hundreds of tourists arrive every summer to tackle Monte Cintu with their backpacks and sandwiches, Jean Acquaviva decided to construct a small shack where he served grilled meats. Very soon the first tents were being pitched under the 100 year old chestnut trees and, gradually, the natural park of the U Monte Cintu campsite began to take shape. Thirty years later, donning a straw hat, guitar in hand, Jean continues to share with his passing guests this same love of life in his native village.
