Astratella – Dwarf Juniper in Corsican – is first and foremost a beautiful story. The story of a meeting, a project, a resistance.

The meeting took place at the heart of these lands, Corté, in the late 1980s. An association was established to try and develop a viable economic platform on the island. Nöelle Irolla was the young employee recruited by the Cortenais group, Milou Corteggiani had embarked on the adventure. Thus was born a strong friendship between the two women, who decided to found the GAEC Astratella in Lumio – Noëlle’s native region - in August 1993, with their shared passion being: a tarra – the land.

Together they learned aromatherapy and distillery techniques in Cargèse, in the first infrastructure of the time. Thirty years later, Astratella offers a range of ten essential oils and hydrolates, and fifteen massage oils to soothe all afflictions.

“We wanted to create a cosmetic laboratory”, explains Milou, “in order to be able to process and transform our harvest of wild plants and the fruit we had grown. Because being able to pass on this knowledge is precious.” Wild plants and the knowledge of their virtues are like an indispensable return to basics. Essential!!
