La Spirale Verte is a new spirulina farm, established in 2012 as a result of the perseverance and determination of its founder, Pierre-Etienne Pinchart.
For this Belgian-born former consultant, who specialises, among other things, in microeconomic development, and who has travelled across the African continent, returning to his first love was a no brainer for his future career change. “I trained as an agricultural engineer and my plan has always been to return to the “living” part of things, to be able to study “above ground” techniques. Being a poor market gardener!” he jokes. Twelve years ago, in Mauritania, Pierre-Etienne discovered this micro-algae from the cyanobacteria family, a great source of essential nutrients. At first, he was simply a consumer, but in 2010 he decided to grow it when he discovered the island landscapes, “the perfect place to begin this adventure, while living there with my family at the same time. It’s a genuine life project!” he says.
After diligently and patiently setting up on the heights of Linguizzetta, Pierre-Etienne now intends to help as many people as possible discover the benefits and virtues of this “superfood”!
