As a figurehead of Clos Teddi for 17 years, Marie-Brigitte Poli has an excellent sense of direction! In 1997, the young woman was faced with the untimely death of her father, and a huge decision presented itself: leaving the vineyard and the planned independent cellar, or taking over the business herself. The answer was self-evident.
"My father gave his life to these vines. His greatest ambition was to build a cellar. I had to see his dream through. For him."
Marie-Brigitte has no regrets. At the age of 23, she got down to the work, and, as a devoted team leader, she began to produce her own wine in the late 1990s. "1999: my first bottle under the Patrimoniu appelation. And along with the birth of my wine, my son Joseph came into the world! That was a pretty hectic year!" Marie-Brigitte becomes pensive when past difficulties are mentioned. "In hindsight, we sometimes wonder how we made it over all those hurdles... But now I firmly believe we made the right decisions. Once you set foot in the vineyard, it sweeps you away entirely, and you no longer have time to think!"
Today, Marie-Brigitte works 94 hectares of land produceing red, white and rosé wines. She is also preparing to make her father’s dream come true: the cellar will be complete in 2015. A long life awaits Clos Teddi!
