Fabienne and Émile Lucchini lead a very busy life! Working tirelessly, for 14 years they’ve been in charge of 16 hectares of vines in the Domaine de Solenzara, located on the heights of the village, by the sea. A domaine where local grape varieties (joined by Mouverdre and Grenache) are honoured. The famous Sciaccarellu comes highly recommended by the young winemaking couple.

“When we took on this land”, explains the master of these vines, “the winemaking domaine, established in 1970, made table wine. In 1991, my wife and I restructured it and created the PDO Domaine de Solenzara. Our desire was to shape this terroir according to our principals and our knowledge.” To give the three endemic varieties their full strength, Fabienne and Émile opted for sustainable cultivation with no use of chemicals.

“Grape harvest on the entire property is done by hand. The vineyards are also ploughed manually. This approach seems necessary to us, in order to give this unique crop its full strength ” concludes Fabienne. And to share their produce and domaine, the couple opened up 3 rental cottages to the public in an idyllic location 8 years ago: nestled in the heart of the vineyards, the sea stretching as far as the eye can see; a new found tranquillity. A little slice of paradise!
