Matteo is the youngest Finidori boy. In the lineage of this family, anchored in the land of Piscia (Christine, the mother is a master restaurateur; Marc, the patriarch, manages the Bergeries de Piscia; Maxence, the eldest, is a pig breeder and Marie is a horse rider), the young man of 24 has naturally gone for agriculture. But his choice is not down to chance.
As a teenager in 2014 he decided, assisted by his father, to plant a hectare of vines. "I have always been interested in wine, he says. My curiosity was such that my father offered to give me a leg up and help me get established." Passion was born from desire. Matteo obtained his Professional Aptitude Certificate (CAP, Certificat d’aptitude professionnel) at Borgu high school in 2017 and completed his training with a Vocational Diploma in Farm Management (BPREA, Brevet professionnel responsable d’exploitation agricole) in Sartène. He acquired the techniques on courses in renowned wine estates in the Far South.
Today, Matteo owns three hectares of planted vines that stretch over the plain of Figari, facing the Uomo di Cagna. The grape varieties are endemic ones like Carcaghjolu, Niellucciu, Sciacarellu or Vermentinu. Others, such as Grenache and Cinsault, are there to complement production. The winemaker does not intend to stop there: in 2022, an additional hectare will see the light of day in Malvoisie and Vermentinu. He’s got his whole life ahead of him!
