When Jean Cardi greets you it is just like his conversation - to the point and with little digression. Jean Cardi is a larger than life character, forceful and excessive, and full of contradictions too, about which he laughs himself, and which make him so friendly and engaging. He is also a hard worker who has passed onto his two sons the values that he believes help make a good farmer: the love of work well done and the respect of the land that provides it.
Today, managing a flock of some 500 sheep, Cardi and his sons work and live peacefully on the hectares of grasslands that surround them. Jean is justifiably proud of the work that he has achieved over the past 40 years, as well as being proud of having shared this passion with his children.
“I have always fought to defend small family farms. They are the secular identity of Corsican agriculture and should be protected. When I see both my sons take over the farm and eager to improve and develop it, I am overwhelmed” he comments emotionally.
