"A Sunday in the Country": this famous movie title could symbolise Cathy and Paul-Jean Poggi’s dual and early vocation for pastoralism. During their weekends together as children they both sealed their professional future. "My two uncles were shepherds in Pevani and, every weekend, I eagerly awaited them so that I could join them. There, amongst their animals, I felt alive again. I was in my element and I knew early on that I’d be a shepherd one day", Paul-Jean recounts, with passion in his voice.
"I went to school in Appietto, near here, and I spent my weekends following the village shepherd in the hills. I loved watching him make cheese," Cathy today confesses in her workshop. Yet, this young, dynamic and sporty woman initially chose sea rescue to fulfil herself professionally. Then one day she met Paul-Jean and her childhood memories resurfaced. "I finally had the opportunity to realise my childhood dream," she continues. While she leaves Paul-Jean in charge of the herd, she quickly took care of the manufacture and delivery of the cheese. "I love my job and I have an incredible opportunity to share it with my husband," she concludes.
