In the Albertini family, there have been pig farmers in each generation (four on the maternal side and three on the paternal side). It is not surprising, then, that Francis was called to the vocation as a teenager. Just fifteen years old, he asked his father to give him some animals in order to learn the basics of the trade. With the secret hope that his already skilful son would continue the family tradition, he readily granted the boy’s request.
After additional training at agricultural college in 1985, François embarked on his own project five years later. Year after year, he patiently increased his flock, which now stands at around 400 heads. The strict discipline François demands of himself enables him to cope with the pace of his work without losing any of his enthusiasm.
"Breeding pigs is necessarily an open-airactivity. Add to this a passion for the job, and the drawbacks fade away."
Over time, Francis has closely observed the changes in his profession. "The business has developed - today you raise, fatten, butcher and sell. This suits me fine: I love farming, I also like working with livestock. And besides, he adds with a broad smile, I like to introduce visitors to my produce!" A winning combination!
