Simple, proud and happy!

A lunch break consisting of cold meats, cheeses and delicious cheese fritters – all of it fresh and homemade! Then an hour’s walk in the mountains… doesn’t it sound tempteing? Well, why not join Marie-Jeanne and Georges Grisanti in their shepherd huts adjoining the San Bartuli chapel, at an altitude of one thousand and seventy-four metres, along the ridge, above the clouds! Fill your lungs with pure air... and behold... The view is magnificent: on the sea side, the Tuscan islands and Cap Corse, while inland there are stunning views of the pieve d’Orezza villages...

A warm welcome, in true Corsican tradition, awaits you. This pair of shepherds will give you a glimpse of their daily life: milking and producing Brocciu and other types of cheese, and all the activities involved in a long ancestral tradition "as it has always been here..." They find happiness up there in the clouds "if only we could make the season longer!" And when they speak, there are stars in their eyes... and their heads are full of ideas... ideas about how to carry on breathing life into the mountain’s old shepherd huts.

Come to the shepherd hut during summer – the flocks are brought to pasture from June to September. From Monaccia Orezza or Parata, it will take you an hour and a half by foot on regional park trails and the Via Romana passage.
