~~Marie-Ange and Nicolas Maniccia’s new farm, U Filanciu, is nestled in the heart of the village of Olmi è Cappella. It’s in this renowned village in Giunssani that they have spent the last year raising a flock of 120 goats from Castagniccia. “I always knew I’d have my own flock one day,” Nicolas remembers.

For this former marine-loving semaphorist, it has been a drastic career change! Just as it has been for Marie-Ange, who has embraced the project since they first met. “While initially I liked the idea of having sheep, I was quickly won over by this endearing animal!” Marie-Ange explains.
You can sense this closeness immediately when you see Angelita, their 9-year-old daughter, growing up amongst the animals. The young girl sometimes helps her mother make the four cheeses that Marie-Ange offers their visitors: traditional, tomme, brocciu, certified PDO and brocciu passu. Maybe this will continue into the next generation!

At the moment there is no shortage of projects for U Filanciu: a new sheep pen is going to be set up and European approval has recently been obtained.
