Originally from Casinca, David Pellier has an attachment to this land and its traditions. “By the time I was 18 I already knew that I’d return to the village one day to work in the open air, to bring our know-how and, by extension, the memory of our elders to the fore” says the (almost) forty-year-old.
With experience gained working alongside fellow breeders, David embarked on his own adventure in 2010 with an initial confirmed objective: a PDO product. “I always gave quality pride of place. Quantity means little to me” he continues. “It’s a more difficult decision to make at the beginning but it really pays in the end!” Pig farming was a natural fit for David, and seeing his favourite animal (he now has 150 pigs) on the slopes of Sant'Anghjulu convinced him that he made the right decision. He also knew he could count on all the young farmers in the region to help each other out.
“We stand together, we’re always there to support each other and embark on shared projects” he shares. Just as he can rely on the sale of his various products (in a new shop set up in 2020), he knows he can rely on Frédérique his wife, and his wonderful family. David has a solid entourage, and he knows it. With a broad smile on his face, he concludes: “the authenticity of our villages is far from being lost!”
