Billy the donkey grazes the meadow’s fresh grass; tourists come and go around the property. They stay in the campsite at the heart of the Alzetta farm, a farm that was founded in 1983 when Daniel and Martine Hervet, both from Lot-et-Garonne, bought those parcels of land in Muratellu.
Urbanites initially, the Hervets understand the importance of the land and actively campaign for its defence. “We’re part of this so-called ‘Back to the land’ generation,” says Martine. “Not the hippy movement!” Daniel interjects with a smile on his face. “Rather, the ancestors of the current ‘Greens’!” Martine finishes. “We were volunteers fighting alongside the farmers for the conservation of the land in the South West.”
In Muratellu, Martine and Daniel are certainly not lacking in energy! Their activities started off with hen raising and have today moved towards market gardening. Vegetables at the cutting edge of technology!
The Alzetta farm offers its exclusive produce on the web. With one click consumers can fill their baskets at leisure and then collect it at the property! One hectare is devoted to the farm’s campsite, which was created in 1992. A clever idea in the eyes of these farmers, allowing them to show and educate people what a real producer’s work involves!
