After a long career spent passing on her knowledge to the younger generation, this spritly retiree was eager to learn something new again. Passionate about art, she took drawing, live model and painting classes at the Beaux-Arts before settling, with her brushes and potter's wheel, on Oléron island. “I have lived many beautiful years on this island”, confides Denise, “and I had an encounter here that was crucial for my artistic journey.” Denise Ledroit receives precious lessons from the ceramist Sylvie Mougeotte, who introduced her to the finer techniques of the discipline.

But Denise and her husband missed the warmth and sunshine of the Mediterranean, and decided to leave the island to find another. Since setting up shop in Corsica, Denise quickly found her “artistic” trademarks. Besides the construction of a new workshop where she makes her creations and receives the public, she naturally found herself back on the educational path, giving workshops for children. Inquisitive and affable by nature, she now exhibits at many markets and fairs on the island to further enrich her life with exchanges and encounters.
