Curious by nature and attracted to manually creation, Jeff Nicolier decided to take on a pipe bowl crafting internship in the late 1990s. This small industry experienced its heyday in Corsica during the previous century. It was during his exploration of Corsica when he met the last pipemakers in Castagniccia that Jeff Nicolier developed an interest in this activity. As luck would have it, the end of his internship coincided with a call for applications from the Fozzano Town Hall, which, in 1998, sought to encourage new artisans to set up in the village. Being a man up for a challenge, Jeff Nicolier established his workshop in Fozzano that same year. Very soon his first creations were born and his first customers crossed the threshold of his workshop.

“The reaction from both passing visitors and local inhabitants was very encouraging, they were happy to see the village coming back to life”, says Jeff. He quickly distinguished himself with the originality and quality of his creations (pipes, pens, vaporizers, etc.) whose characteristic element is the use of local wood species only. At a time of widespread “Made in China”, it’s no surprise that lovers of fine work are happy to find such craftsmen in a small village in Corsica.
