Brin de Bois is the fruit of David Catala’s recent career change. For this former IT technician who worked in multinational companies for 15 years, a return to a less frantic lifestyle was essential. “Today, I can say that I am completely happy,  Independent and free!” smiles the artisan enthusiastically. In 2011, David decided on a new start and moved to Corsica. It had all begun with his first experience with wood in 2007. “At that time, I needed to furnish my apartment and I became interested in woodwork.”  Passionate about drawing and model making, he therefore explored the possibility of crafting small toys, patiently acquiring different machines which make up his workshop today.

In the small village of Barretalli, he imagines, creates and designs objects that are unique in their design and functionality – for the most part from wood species found on the island. The visitor will discover surprising brain-teasers, “pirouette” spinning tops and puzzles in the shape of animals, among other items.

In his workshop overlooking the sea, David is now calm, far from his hectic former life, happy to share his passion for wood with his visitors.
