Genuine, authentic, passionate. Three words that match the energy of this Scata cutler!

Fabien Cazorla was 24 years old when he met the blacksmiths and cutlers who passed on their know-how and convictions regarding this object which is so dear to the islanders. Fabien already subscribes to the pastoral philosophy, and he is a fervent proponent of not just traditions, but also the way they are practised.

“When I mould a horn for a handle, it’s giving another life to an organic material,” he explains. “I add the metalwork. My father and sister sometimes carve the handle. And the knife is born. It has its character and it must then become the companion of its purchaser. No folklore! A knife is a tool that serves!”

This pursuit of authenticity runs through the veins of this 37-year-old artisan who has a love of music (he makes pirule and pivane, flutes in reed and horn respectively), horses (he is a trainer) and nature. “‘A roba si venta à di per ella’ (things sell themselves),” summarises Fabien, Avà hè detta! * * And that’s it!
