A student, Hélène Cancela is working at the fairs of the Balagne region to offer her first creations.
“Art has always appealed to me, alongside my literary studies. When Strada di l’Artigiani [Artisans’ Route] was created in 1999, I didn’t hesitate for a second!” remembers Hélène.

In her workshop, she designs bracelets, rings and other pieces of jewellery, which are sometimes adorned with fine stones.
She has since been perfecting her techniques in etching, silver soldering and wax modelling.
With a solid basic design, she transforms various raw materials (bronze, brass, silver and even silver-plated bronze), always demonstrating her passion for making vintage-inspired contemporary and elegant jewellery.

“How can we identify them?” asks Hélène playfully.  They are open and can adapt to any individual! They are adjustable and comfortable to wear.”

And what about new digital technologies? Helen is interested but isn’t completely convinced. “I don’t think anything can replace the work of a human hand!” she says.

And there’s no doubt that B&H jewellery is the work of a woman!
