A very personal object of passion...
The U Salognu cutlery workshop is situated up amongst the summits of the Chiuni Valley, on the road to Piana, fifteen kilometres north of Cargèse, although you will need to arrange an appointment to meet Kevin Muzikar.
He will then freely talk and share with you his work and passion. The workshop and forge are both located on-site, from where he produces his classic Corsican-style range of cutlery.
The handles are predominately made from local goat and ram horns, whilst the specific features of each horn determine the size and shape of the corresponding blade. He forges both the blades and Damascus laminated steel in his workshop. Once cut and treated with olive oil, they are straightened, pressed and left to rest for one year, before finishing. These specific manufacturing stages make for a product of unparalleled quality. The flexibility of the blade and durability of the slicing edge are the result of patient, meticulous work. All his pieces are completely unique and come with a life-time guarantee!
Kevin has unequivocally chosen quality over quantity in order to perpetuate his passion, without which these creations would no longer exist.
