As a son, grandson and nephew of a farming family from the Sagone region, Pierre-Toussaint Gaffroy would have found it difficult to escape from his calling!
“I grew up amongst cattle and horses and never imagined doing anything else.” But, strangely, he is the only one of ten grandchildren to have followed this path. However, he could simply have been content to quietly manage his agricultural heritage, but this would have completely ignored this “gentleman-farmer's” ambition and strong work ethic.
“Just because you inherit land and knowhow it doesn't mean there is nothing more to do”, he emphasises. With the precious and indispensable help of his wife, a horse-riding trainer, he has modernised and grown the equestrian activity in the region. All the riders in the area or passers by meet up at Pierre-Toussaint's Ranch. However he has never lost sight of his other work and the 24 hours in the day seem too few to feed all his cattle, maintain his olive grove and press his oil. This undoubtedly is the price to be paid to attract and keep a loyal clientele of horsemen and food lovers!
