You can’t hear the sound of a single car on the Cervione farm despite the National 198 (A-Road) being just a stone’s throw away. So, visitors hidden away in this sea of greenery green amongst the rows of kiwi fruit trees. It was here in 2003 that Muriel Crestey decided to farm three acres of olive groves with a well-planned project to use the oil for cosmetics products.
An agricultural Engineer with a Master’s in Cosmetology, she launched her first range of formulae in 2004. Realia was born! Three more will soon be added to the range of twenty-two products.
Muriel knows every inch of this area where her grandparents used to live and work. In 1995 she became the first paid employee of Bio Civam Corsica, the regional association for the development of organic agriculture, in San Giuliano. "My whole experience in this activity is a kind of overview of agricultural history on the plains. Today, my business is located here once more." The young woman talks about her harsh everyday family life. "It’s true that my description of working the land might seem a bit daunting” she says, “but I've always been convinced tha I contribute to farming on my own terms,” she adds quickly. “I'm looking for the added value provided by an essence. That’s my way of campaigning. I’m always keen to embrace innovative approaches that respect the landscape."
The subtle textures - both feminine and modern – of Realia’s products are ample proof of that!
