Long blond braids blowing in the wind, Marina Faure welcomes you from atop her favourite horse, Ginger. In the early 2000s, Marina and her husband David overhauled the Villata ranch, which was created at the same time as the farm campsite by Marina’s grandfather sixty years earlier.

“We’ve been in the equestrian business since we were kids. We grabbed this incredible opportunity to take over the estate in this beautiful region with both hands” says David, a tall and slender Saint-Etienne native with the looks of a rock star. The energetic Marina is the dynamic leader of this small world of two and four legs. “In this profession, there are three conditions that we believe it is vital to respect: stay humble, always be passionate - which is a crucial prerequisite! And don’t watch the clock! Working with animals is always time-consuming!” she concludes.

The ranch now has twenty-three horses and eight ponies and offers activities such as horseback riding and horse riding lessons all year round. Soon, visitors will be able to sample local products at a table d’hôtes [guest table] set up at the heart of the ranch. Because, for the Faures, the equine world and welcoming guests to the farm are synonymous with sharing and hospitality.
