Sylvain Martinez-Ciccolini's journey can be characterised by two kinds of return home. The first is purely geographical in nature, with his return to Cozzano in Corsica, the land of his maternal ancestors. This is where Sylvain set up a consultancy specialising in environmental issues, land use, and regional development. Regional development—there’s an important element!

Sylvain's family land has always been productive, and the young man wanted to perpetuate this. And this is where we arrive at the second return home: a return to agriculture. After training at one of the largest saffron farms in France and obtaining a Bac Pro (vocational diploma) remotely, Sylvain would settle as an organic farmer and would begin cultivating mountain saffron, the quality of which he absolutely swears by.

“We’re in the mountains here, and our products need to reflect this special characteristic”, states the saffron grower, who is obviously brimming with ideas for the development of his Haut-Taravu farm, and for the exploration of the full potential of this spice, which pairs excellently with Corsican citrus fruits, teas, and honeys from his partner (Maria Ghjuvanna Colombani). Together, they want to be able to offer new kinds of foods as part of their “Bocca” farm dining project.
