Domaine Mavela stands in the heart of the eastern plain, surrounded by vineyards and orchards. This “must-see” small-scale distillery is becoming increasingly well-known.
It is a family-run business created in the 1990s and has gone from strength to strength.

Behind its plate glass window, an impressive Holstein still, with a 1,000-litre capacity, is used throughout the year to:

•  produce fruit brandies and liqueurs, using fruit grown locally and on the estate, such as sweetchestnut,  citron, myrtle, raspberries, plums, Williams pears, and grapes;
•  produce whisky, using malt from the Pietra brewery – P&M is the first whisky to be manufactured entirely in Corsica.

And the latest creation, made in a limited quantity in collaboration with the Grimaldi chocolatiers, is a chocolate liqueur which will satisfy the most inquisitive of palettes!

 Domaine Mavela also features a 700m2 vaulted wine cellar housing more than 10,000 bottles (grands crus, AOP and local wine) and a gourmet selection of the island’s best small-scale produce: artisan charcuterie known as “Porcu nustrale” and farmhouse cheeses, as well as pâtés, jam, honey, confectionery and olive oil, all selected with great care and passion. 

The produce here is unique and “100% Corsican” – even the walls display paintings by the island’s artists.
